5. Gotham By Gaslight
Steampunk and Batman together in one glorious project? Sign. Us. Up!
Based on the 1989 Batman comic of the same name, Gotham By Gaslight imagines what it would be like if Batman was alive in the 1800s, rather than in the present day like we're used to.
Gotham By Gaslight never got very far off the ground and was actually only at the pitch level before it was cancelled. That said, it looked like with the right team and amount of effort, it could have been fantastic.
A very early prototype of the game has been released in recent years, showcasing a steampunk-style aesthetic for Batman, a foggy, 1800s Gotham environment and some seriously-impressive-looking cape physics.
It's obviously super-rough around the edges as Batman can leap as high as building roofs, but the actual environment looks great, and the verticality involved with Batman being able to traverse rooftops looks quite reminiscent of Rocksteady's Arkham City and Knight.
We won't lose hope that this one won't be created one day.
