4. No Man's Sky Launch - No Man's Sky 2019

When No Man's Sky finally dropped after months of hype, what came after were months of complaints and over a year of radio silence.

The team had promised the world, but barely delivered a beach on a wet winter's day. Features that were promised were completely absent (or shells of their intentions), the “deep and immersive” experience boiled down to rock cutting, and the game's ending unceremoniously kicked you back to the beginning.

And yet, in the year of 2019, I have to state, without a shred of irony, that No Man’s Sky is utterly brilliant. The ways in which Hello Games have taken the time and effort to continue supporting this title despite the less than interstellar launch has brought life back to the title.

Multiplayer has been introduced and expanded upon with the Beyond update, full VR support has been implemented and doesn’t feel gimmicky, and new story sections and missions have all been added in to tie the universe together. What started out as a series of unconnected islands in space now truly feel like a game that shot for the moon and ended up going even further.
