10 Video Games That Are Better When You Break Them

8. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

If player choice is a buffet then Morrowind is the game that allows you to put the entire canteen into a single pot and chug it. Which is a strange analogy to lead us to the fact that there's really nothing stopping you from breaking the game as soon as possible.

What's so funny about Alchemy in Elder Scrolls is two-fold: it's incredibly easy to abuse and it gets ridiculous fast.

By crafting and consuming potions, you can up any potential stat in the game, including the stat which produces better potions. By buying some ash yam and bloat from a shopkeep (several of which will restock as soon as you leave and re-enter), you can create a fortify intelligence potion to get smarter and smarter. Sell one or two back to afford more supplies, and repeat.

When your intelligence is high enough, you'll be able to craft elixirs that catapult any other stat like strength or speed. This results in being so powerful that a single swing of a weapon will cause it to shatter or being so fast that a simple push forward of the character breaks the world around them.

So not only is it possible to become God of Morrowind through potion-chugging, you can go too far and make the game so broken you can't even play it anymore without it crashing.
