10 Video Games That Don't Deserve Their High Metacritic Scores

1. Fallout 4

Possibly the most polarising game in recent years, every comment section, Youtube video and general appearance of Fallout 4 is swiftly followed by a miasma of conflicting opinions.

Critics and video game awards shows claimed it was 'the best game of 2015', whilst outside the most diehard Bethesda devotees, the response was it was just far too buggy and repetitive to be worthy of such a statement.

Bethesda have always knocked it out the park when it comes to world-building on paper, but in the transition to code, something about Fallout 4 was severely lacking. A.I. scripting meant characters got stuck in walls, floors or even on rooftops, animations across the board felt decidedly 'last-gen', and even the story pacing suffered from 'Mass Effect 3 syndrome' (that need to complete a main objective as fast as possible, yet you're forever free to roam the lands to your heart's content).

On PC, an influx of mods from the community immediately fixed everything from the broken dialogue system to the layering of armour items, essentially doing Bethesda's work for them, but again, what does that say about the game as it was at launch?

Overall there was nothing you could sell Fallout 4 on that Fallout 3 didn't already nail back in 2008, and nowhere near enough outlets made that clear.

Which do you agree or disagree with, and which games would you throw up as being rated WAY too highly? Let us know in the comments!
