Modern Warfare 3 was heralded as a fitting conclusion to the trilogy, which is true in the sense that it contains nearly every great thing that came before, before simply giving you more of it. The problem was that the game made few efforts to advance the franchise forward in a meaningful way, or really even address some of the more glaring technical issues of the previous titles.
Many within the gaming community saw Modern Warfare 3 as a lazy cash-in on one of the most profitable game franchises in recent memory.
