Why The Difference?
Whenever a game comes along that garners favorable reviews from critics but is greeted with a hostile reaction by the gaming community, there are always going to be some accusations regarding illicit matters such as payoffs and favoritism.
One of the most overwhelming instances of this came shortly after the release of Bioware’s Dragon Age II. Critics praised the game as a brilliant follow-up to the jaw-dropping Dragon Age Origins, but many gamers couldn’t help but notice its best qualities were lifted note for note from the previous title.
In fact, aside from the introduction of some wonderful new bugs, Dragon Age II was seen as more of a reimagining of Origins than an entirely new experience.
Opinions varied on how just how derivative this truly was, but it wasn’t long before the most passionate of the game’s detractors began to hurl a volley of accusations at critics regarding their supposed fear of speaking out against beloved developer Bioware.
