The studio behind iconic titles like Skyrim and Fallout 3, Bethesda’s RPGs are often considered to be some of the best that have ever been made. When they announced that they’d be releasing a brand-new game in the form of Starfield, there was understandably a lot of excitement surrounding their first new property in 25 years.

Set within a vast galaxy, there’s no shortage of content for players to sink their teeth into. From completing some genuinely enthralling questlines, getting to know the collection of charming companions, or spending hours building ships and outposts, there’s no underestimating just how expansive this game is.

The premise of "Skyrim in space" was something that players found irresistible. And while this game did have some amazing moments, it unfortunately failed to meet fan expectations.

There was simply too much happening for all the ideas and mechanics to cohesively come together. Consequently, Starfield felt disjointed at times and lacked the same sense of strong identity as the studio’s other works.

Moreover, most of the planets that were supposed to be fully explorable were completely empty, meaning that going off the beaten path was a mostly pointless endeavour.

Despite its shortcomings, Starfield got enough right to make for an exciting interstellar adventure.
