10 Video Games That Ignored PERFECT Endings
5. Dead Space 3 (2013)
This entry won't argue that Dead Space 3 is some unappreciated masterpiece. It is a decent enough 7/10 game on its own, but a disappointing finale for the phenomenal Dead Space trilogy, turning this horror juggernaut into a generic action fest. However, while the overall game lets the series down, the ending does a great job of sending the franchise out on a major high.
The game's closing moments show Isaac and Carver going down in an epic blaze of glory. They act defiant against the Necromorph threat until the end, destroying the Brethren Moon and sacrificing themselves to keep Earth safe. Isaac then looks at his picture of Ellie in his final moments, before the game cuts to her piloting a ship to Earth.
This entire sequence serves as a fitting conclusion to the character and the series. Which is why it sucks that EA had to go and ruin it with the Awakened DLC.
After all of that, this story expansion revealed that both characters survived, alongside the Necromorphs. The ending of this DLC leaves the story on a cliff-hanger as Isaac finds the Earth under attack by Brethren Moons, crashing into one, with his fate left unknown. Needless to say, this took the series from a satisfying, well-rounded end to a frustrating mess with no closure.
