10 Video Games That Insult You For Winning
4. Devil May Cry V
Devil May Cry games have a pedigree for being hard. The first one mocked players who sucked by offering an Easy Mode if you died too many times on the first boss. The third one doubled down on difficult, with a notoriously steep curve, even before you get to the Bloody Palace.
By the time the fifth game in the numbered series rolled one, players have had time to hone their devil hunting skills. So when the game starts you off against the main antagonist, Urizen, some players wanted to test their mettle. Most us took this as a "meant to lose" battle, but some do love a challenge.
Against all the odds, if you could smash Urizen before you even know what's going on in the story, you'd be feeling pretty smug.
Bosh, job done, another demon dealt with, world saved, shower me with praise, etc.
Instead the game says, "No, this isn't how it goes, go and do it properly".
Sure, this'll unlock the other difficulty options early, but that's not how Capcom rolls. Time to try again.
