10 Video Games That Jumped To Other Systems During Development

4. Final Fantasy XV

Remember the second jump to another console I mentioned? It's Final Fantasy XV's turn, though when it was first announced, the game looked drastically different. Final Fantasy Verses XIII was a darker-styled entry, one that would accompany the mainline thirteenth entry on Sony's third console. It was first revealed in 2006 and was set to be part of the franchise's Nova Crystallis Saga.

What would eventually become Final Fantasy 15 was announced as a PS3 exclusive and didn't arrive until the eighth generation. It went through many stages of development which grew arduous over time. Little progress was made in the game's vision. With the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy being met with a middling critical reception, this further detached Verses from that entry.

By the time the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One rolled around, the Business Division 2 of Square Enix knew they was no sense in continuing along the same path. According to the developer, the game was around 20%-25% completed. It was decided the title would be converted to a mainline entry and that it would migrate to the Luminous Game Engine.

Just shy of a decade in development, Final Fantasy XV would finally arrive in 2016, making a decent impression on fans new and old.
