10 Video Games That Just Pissed Off EVERYONE
4. Star Citizen Studio Called "Passionate" Fans A "Distraction"
Star Citizen is one of the most fascinating and bewildering games in development right now - the crowdfunded sci-fi epic began production way back in 2011, and last November announced that its funding had crossed the $400 million mark, making it by far the most expensive game ever produced.
Understandably many fans have grown frustrated with the game's slow progress, with some accusing director Chris Roberts of having no handle on its ever-increasing scope, while also communicating progress poorly with players who've already invested deeply in the project.
In recent years the studio, Cloud Imperium Games, has used a roadmap system to explain the game's progress to players, though earlier this year they announced they were ditching it, while throwing not-so-subtle shade at "passionate" fans:
"There still remains a very loud contingent of Roadmap watchers who see projections as promises. And their continued noise every time we shift deliverables has become a distraction both internally at CIG and within our community, as well as to prospective Star Citizen fans watching from the sidelines at our Open Development communications."
Naturally this salty response didn't go down well with players, many of whom paid to play the game over 10 years ago and are still waiting for the end product to be shipped.
