10 Video Games That Let You Be TOO Powerful
4. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses was a big deal at launch, being the first mainline console release for the series since the Nintendo Wii. Fans were practically foaming at the nether-regions for some console-based tactical warfare and the game didn’t disappoint.
Well, aside from in the difficulty department.
The Fire Emblem series built its reputation on a steep difficulty curve that separated the men from the boys. However, that reputation has waned somewhat in recent years. The 3DS iterations allowed players to deactivate the much-loved (and maligned) perma-death system, opening up the floodgates for more casual players.
Three Houses expanded on this even further by having the player character Byleth be an absolute unit.
Bolstering high damage, excellent evasive skills and a knack for landing insane critical hits that feel almost game-breaking. This becomes even more outlandish when part-ways in, Byleth acquires a divine weapon and basically becomes a Demi-God.
Even on the game's higher difficulty settings, Byleth is virtually unstoppable unless severely ganged-up on by enemies, which tends to be a rare occurrence. Three Houses is still an absolute gem of a game, but veterans of the series will find themselves clambering for a more taxing experience.
