10 Video Games That Made You Quit Gaming
6. Mass Effect 3's Ending Is So Unsatisfying Its Unbelievable
How did they screw this one up so badly?
Look, we can hold our hands up and admit it: the Mass Effect series, as a whole, is absolutely superb. With some of the best world building in gaming history, fantastic characters and an equally gripping narrative, it had everything we needed across 3 games.
Then... the ending. You all know what it was like. In a series that promoted choice and fantastic character development (including one of the best final missions in gaming history in Mass Effect 2), ME3 completely dropped the ball at the last moment and - to be quite honest - soured the experience completely.
It's enough to make you want to step away from gaming entirely purely because you'll watch it and say 'I went all the way... for this?!'
Admittedly it's a difficult task to pen an ending for such a sprawling series with so many choices, but you have to think they could have done better than this. Where was the showdown we all wanted with the Illusive Man? Where was anything that was relevant to what we'd done before?
Bioware tried to smooth things over afterwards with an added epilogue afterwards, but even that still doesn't really fix the thing as a whole.
