10 Video Games That Made You Say "What Were They THINKING?!"

5. Dragons And Zombies - True Crime: Streets Of LA

Based on the title, True Crime: Streets of LA, you'd expect this game to be grounded in reality. For the most part, that's what you get, since Activision's open world game is a by-the-numbers police story.

But in-between the car chases and the encounters with the Russia mafia, True Crime takes an unexpected turn. While investigating Chinatown, you'll suddenly be attacked by a zombie. This moment comes out of nowhere, since there was no indication the plot had any supernatural elements.

But it doesn't stop there. Before leaving Chinatown, you'll be confronted by a telekinetic, lava demons, and a literal dragon.

What makes this section more bizarre is how it's never brought up again. When our hero gives his report to his superior, he never mentions how he uncovered the information by a facing a mythological monster!

To understand how crazy this comes across, look at it this way - Do you remember that moment in LA Noire where you battle a flying saucer?

You don't? Of course not. UFOs aren't in the game because incorporating sci-fi elements into a dead-serious noir thriller would stop the player being immersed in the grounded story. Even though this goes without saying, the developers of True Crime saw no problem with stuffing these crazy concepts in an otherwise realistic game.
