10 Video Games That Made You Say "What Were They THINKING?!"

2. Desert Bus - Smoke And Mirrors

In 1995, Imagineering developed a Sega CD minigame collection called Smoke and Mirrors, presented by the acclaimed magic duo, Penn & Teller. Sadly, the publisher went bust, preventing the game from ever being officially released.

Rather than falling into obscurity, Smoke and Mirrors became a cult-classic because of one minigame that sounds so preposterous, it's hard to believe it's real.

In the Desert Bus game, you must drive a bus from Tucson, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada. In real life, this trip would take eight hours. In the game... it also takes eight hours.

Because there aren't any other vehicles, you have no obstacles, save to stay on the road. If you veer off-course, you will be towed back to the way you came... in real time. There is no music and you can't pause. If you manage to reach your destination, you'll be rewarded one point before being asked to head back to Tucson.

Despite the fact Desert Bus sounds like something that would appear in The Simpsons or South Park to parody absurd game premises, it is a legitimate product.
