10 Video Games That Made You Say "WTF Were They THINKING?!"

Metroid: Other M could, as a whole, fit into the "What were they thinking?" category, since this Wii exclusive ruined the series' heroine, Samus Aran. Rather than depicting our leading lady as a badass bounty-hunter, Samus was turned into an overemotional woman, who relies on her superiors for advice and help.

But this isn't the only factor that defiles the franchise. Throughout your playthrough, Samus encounters an esteemed scientist called Dr. Madeline Bergmann. Madeline hopes to control the Metroids, using an AI based on Samus' arch-nemesis, Mother Brain.

But during the climax, Madeline shows her true colours. She's not trying to recreate Mother Brain - she IS Mother Brain. Even though this Dun Dun DUUUUN moment was meant to blow our minds, it was met with groans and eye rolls.

Mother Brain is a gigantic brain in a jar, not a human being. That's the way she's always been and that's the way she should always be. This would be like if, while watching Godzilla, you learn one of the human characters is the titular lizard in disguise. It's not a clever twist. It's very, very, very dumb.

Also, this revelation was really obvious. Madeline Bergman's initials are MB for crying out loud!
