10 Video Games That Make You Rethink Time And Space

7. The Talos Principle

If someone told you that the folk behind Serious Sam, the ironically named silly shoot 'em up, made a puzzle game, you'd be skeptical.

Yet when you get into The Talos Principle, that skepticism will soon dissolve. It won't take long to be replaced with confusion, though.

The start with, The Talos Principle isn't too taxing. Puzzle rooms consist of moving objects from A to B to open C, or deviations thereabouts and for the most part, it's not too bad.

But then, in comes a mechanic that has you make a recording of yourself doing something necessary, like standing on a switch, that you need to manipulate to progress.

So in essence, you have to stand on the switch, make a recording of it, and then play that back when you're close enough to use the door it opens.

That's just one example. It gets more convoluted as time goes on, and that's putting it politely.

Fortunately, TTP does allow the concept of saying, "Nuts to this!" and coming back to a puzzle later, which can be a blessing. However, you can't avoid your mathematical problems forever...
