10 Video Games That Mocked Their Rivals

1. Bulletstorm's Very Funny Playable Demo Calls Out Call of Duty Franchise

Bulletstorm was a game that didn't take itself very seriously. Through a series of stereotypical FPS environments, and with an ever-growing number and size of weapons, players went through a storyline involving aliens, cyborgs, and ridiculously over-the-top kills.

In keeping with this spirit, Epic Games decided to say to hell with it and took it right to one of the franchises it lampooned, Call of Duty, with their five minute playable demo Duty Calls.

The demo is a breakdown of overly serious Call of Duty missions - a loud, booming voiceover, enemies who acknowledge they are just cannon fodder, intel briefings that literally devolve into 'nuclear bomb blah blah blah', questionable accents, blood spattered screens to show you're getting damaged, and a ridiculously hard to understand ranking up system. They even copy the font style.

It is a very witty, very aware lampooning of the deadly serious FPS military shooters of the time, and the folks at Epic must have had a blast making it, despite the extra work needed.

They also, in more of a homage, lift the Fallout series' iconic 'War never changes line' while adding their own confusing twist to it.

Just watch and enjoy.
