10 Video Games That MUST Return On PS5 & Xbox SX

7. F-Zero

It’s been almost twenty years since F-Zero Climax (on the GBA) signified the end of the treasured racing series. That’s particularly odd because – difficulty spikes and reused assets notwithstanding – most consumers and reviewers found it to be very likable.

Likewise, most of the prior outings (starting with 1990’s F-Zero, which helped pioneer the SNES’ Mode 7 graphical output) effectively delivered cutting-edge slices of hyperactively futuristic competition. Hell, 2003’s F-Zero GX was understandably hailed as the best racer on the Gamecube!

Therefore, it’s no wonder why fans have been clamoring for a new addition to the legacy ever since. Yet, despite keeping F-Zero alive tangentially by incorporating facets of it (namely, Captain Falcon) into ancillary IPs like Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Nintendo Land, and even Tekken Tag Tournament 2, there’s been very little talk of bringing it back.

That is, until recently, when F-Zero GX producer Toshihiro Nagoshi declared that he’d be open to returning if the project were guaranteed to be a “challenging” alternative to the “fun and accessible” Mario Kart.

With the aptitude to generate dazzlingly complex and vibrant track layouts perfect for absorbingly frantic races, Nagoshi – or anyone else who’d fit – surely warrants another crack at it.
