10 Video Games That MUST Return On PS5 & Xbox SX

6. Jak & Daxter

The PlayStation 2 was the birthplace for many cherished franchises, including three wildly different main platformers: Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Jak and Daxter.

Whereas the first two continued into the next generation, if not further (Ratchet & Clank has appeared on every Sony system that followed), Jak and Daxter hasn’t seen any new love (outside of compilations) since the PS2 and PSP.

Admittedly, 2009’s Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier – developed by High Impact Games instead of Naughty Dog – was less polished and popular than the original trilogy (or spin-offs Jak X: Combat Racing and Daxter); nevertheless, a passionate following for the franchise remains, as it was perhaps the most endearingly peculiar and daring of the aforementioned trio.

As with a few other entries on the list, Jak and Daxter has repeatedly popped up in other games since that last outing (most recently, The Last of Us Part II), and there was talk of a restart a few years ago.

Thus, there’s still hope that fans will see Jak IV – which could meld all of the prior titles’ tonal and gameplay elements into one irresistibly varied and expansive package – before too long.
