10 Video Games That MUST Return On PS5 & Xbox SX
4. SSX
As any fan of the subgenre knows, the 2000s were overly saturated with extreme sports series; while there were many awesome ones, only a few came close to matching the quality and success of pioneer Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.
Easily the best of the bunch was EA’s SSX, which basically applied the Birdman’s brand of stellar songs (both well-known and unknown), epic levels, quirky characters, and absurd trick combinations to the world of snowboarding.
Just like THPS 2, 2001’s SSX Tricky did precisely what a sequel should: expand upon everything that made the original promising. From there, every mainline follow-up offered fresh gimmicks to spice things up – to mixed results at times – with 2012’s positively received PS3/X360 reboot providing the most realistic setting.
Outside of 2018’s SSX 3 Xbox One remaster – which doesn’t really count – there was never a successor. That said, there is still hope for SSX Tricky to get the same treatment, as producer Steven Rechtschaffner has remarked that “it could work” but that “it’s in the hands of SSX.”
That would definitely be cool, but it’d be even better to see what could be done with SSX 4. Let’s just steer clear of unnecessary peripherals, okay?
