10 Video Games That Only Got Started At The End
8. The Mech Suits - Gears Of War 4
One thing is painfully obvious from playing Gears of War 4's campaign - the series was sorely lacking in new ideas by this point, and as slick as the core gameplay was, Gears 4's story mode was a totally forgettable, by-the-numbers shooter romp.
But the campaign absolutely saved the best for last, by having J.D. and Kait step into gigantic, awesome mech suits for the final mission.
It was shamelessly OTT wish fulfilment, and ultimately the single standout sequence in an otherwise competent yet unmemorable experience.
To be fair, the mech finale did prove slightly divisive with fans, though many agree that it provided a welcome switching-up of the central mechanics which, after eight hours of play, had well and truly run their course.
This was exactly the dynamic, flat-pedal intensity that Gears 4 needed - and sorely lacked - from the outset.
