One of the most criticised parts of Bioshock Infinite was that the game's one primary woman of colour, Daisy Fitzroy, the leader of a rebel uprising attempting to overthrow the oppressive regime of Columbia, was made to be just as evil as the racist dictator, Comstock.

In one head-scratching moment that seemed to exist only to further Elizabeth's character arc rather than make sense in the logic of the game, Daisy takes a child prisoner and threatens to kill him. Sneaking up behind her, Elizabeth kills the leader of the Vox Populi with a pair of scissors, and is irrevocably changed by her violent actions.

The Burial at Sea DLC attempts to explain the logic of this out-of-character moment, revealing that Daisy knew that she'd have to be killed by Elizabeth if there was any chance of putting an end to Comstock's reign of terror.

Being visited by the time-travelling Lutece twins, Daisy agrees to pretend to do something sinister in order to provoke Elizabeth into realising that sometimes murder is necessary. So, the child himself was never actually in danger, and the character's 180 personality turn was just a ploy to get Elizabeth to kill for the first time and realise that sometimes extreme situations require extreme actions.
