10 Video Games That Prove The Wii U Is Far From Doomed

2. Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. appeals to just about everyone. Even if you're not a big Nintendo fan, that's not a valid reason not to enjoy the spectacle of watching their most famous characters try to kick one another's teeth in. Smash games don't come out too often, so their release is usually greeted with an insane amount of hype. Smash Bros. for 3DS sold over a million copies in its opening weekend in Japan alone, which is a testament to the massive popularity of the series. There's no doubt that Smash Bros. for Wii U will be just as popular, if not more so. It'll have more modes and better visuals than its portable brother and is designed with local multiplayer in mind, which is what Smash has always been about. More importantly, however Smash Bros. Wii U will be the first game to support Nintendo's NFC-enabled Amiibo figurines. They'll be able to join you in battle either with or against you. While that could be fun on its own, it also serves a purpose as Amiibo's have their own leveling system that offers wide range of customisation options. Your Amiibo will be much more than a generic figurine. It will feel unique and will be a reflection of your personality. Smash Bros. for Wii U is Nintendo's game for the holiday period and it's almost guaranteed to give the system a much-needed boost in momentum just like Mario Kart 8 did earlier this year. Amiibo has the potential to propel the system's popularity to new heights, especially among the younger demographic. In summary, Smash Bros. for Wii U is going to be so awesome it hurts.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
