10 Video Games That Prove The Wii U Is Far From Doomed
3. Xenoblade Chronicles X
Xenoblade Chronicles gave the JRPG genre a new lease of life when it released on Wii in 2011. It somehow managed to modernise the JRPG while respecting its heritage. Everything about it was memorable from its fantastic story and engaging combat system to its unique setting. The whole game took place on the bodies of giant mechs that had fallen in battle long ago. It also pushed the Wii to its limits, creating a vividly detailed world with an incredible draw distance. Its successor on Wii U looks to do the same and is sure to silence sceptics of the system's graphical capabilities. Xenoblade Chronicles X's world looks staggeringly vast and features the same mesmerising mesh of organic and mechanical life as its predecessor. It's perhaps one of the only games where you can go from fighting a dinosaur one minute to flying around in a mech the next. Xenoblade Chronicles X promises dozens (or maybe even hundreds) of hours of gameplay in a world that you can fully explore without encountering invisible walls. Considering JRPGs are few and far between these days, it's a game that fans of the genre should cherish when it releases in 2015.
