10 Video Games That Prove The Wii U Is Far From Doomed

5. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

One of the biggest surprises in 2013's Super Mario 3D World was the Captain Toad levels. They were wonderful little distractions in which players had to guide the clueless little mushroom through maze-like levels, making sure to pick up all the stars along the way. Toad's levels were a nice change of pace from Mario's tried-and-true platforming gameplay, but sadly there were only a few of them scattered throughout the game. Nintendo left us wanting more, but thankfully they're all set to give us our next fix of puzzling action in the form of a fully-fledged retail release. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will build on the original concept of the levels in Mario 3D World by adding familiar power-ups like the clone-creating double cherry and not so familiar ones like the pickaxe that you can use to create new pathways. Boss fights will also be a part of the game, which is about as expected as Toad's loved one getting kidnapped in the game's opening cut-scene. Some things never change! Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker looks like it's going to be an awesome spin-off. Let's just hope it's successful so that Nintendo are inspired to think of more. It'd be a shame not to take advantage of the huge back catalog of fantastic characters they have at their disposal.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
