10 Video Games That Punish You For Cheating

7. You Can Only Cheat A Limited Number Of Times - Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Because LucasArts also didn't want us to have too much fun, their video game adaptation of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace actually restricts the number of times you can use two health-giving cheat codes.

The cheat "heal it up," which restores the player's health back to maximum, can only be used five times throughout the game, ensuring that if you use up your five cheats early, you're gonna be up the creek without a paddle later on.

And while there is another life-restoring cheat, "give me life," this one comes with a major, potentially prohibitive caveat - each time you use it, the game's difficulty increases.

And so, once you've exhausted your five uses of each of these cheats, you may well end up stuck with an excessively difficult game you can't actually finish the good old-fashioned way.

For a game clearly meant to be played by children that seems a tad harsh, no?
