10 Video Games That Punished You For Saving

5. Golden Sun

Alien Isolation
Camelot

After winning an RPG, many players continue to explore the world map, hoping to complete every side-quest and obtain every hidden artefact.

If you played Golden Sun, you had more incentive to find everything, since your data could be carried over to the sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age. The most crucial items to locate were the Djinn - elemental creatures that give your party additional powers and allow them to summon godlike monsters. After you beat the game, you'll want to collect all of these enchanted critters, so you can transfer them over to The Lost Age.

But if you save at the wrong time, this becomes an impossibility. When you defeat the Fusion Dragon, your team will be transported to Lalivero. After speaking to Babi, you can head towards the Lemurian Ship, which will cause the credits to roll.

Here's the problem - You're unable to leave Lalivero after you kill the Fusion Dragon. So, if you saved your progress after arriving in this town, you can't complete any unfinished side-quests. If you still had a few Djinns to get, you missed your chance to use them in the follow-up.
