10 Video Games That Should Have Ended Differently
8. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Make Defeating The Boss All About Using CQC And Melee Combat
Another climactic fight that in its current form was still weighty and impactful as hell - yet... a little lacking, as far as actual gameplay was concerned. The reality of why this duel is so cherished comes from the accompanying cutscenes, score and final one-button action that finishes Boss off.
The action itself? Sadly, fighting Boss boils down to alternating between a melee counter and sprinting behind trees to avoid her bullets. You don't remotely feel like a martial arts-schooled master of close-quarters combat - instead like you're exploiting the A.I. to get a shot in.
Rather like Uncharted 2, fixing this fight means designing something around Naked Snake's full array of standing abilities. Everything from repeatedly tapping circle to parry away her attacks to crouching under a weightier swing, choking out Boss to weaken her to dodge rolling away from specific counter gunshots.
Kojima did include the ability to don the Snow camouflage and hide amongst the field itself, but this should've been mandatory. Defeating the Boss was Snake as the student becoming the master - it should've taken every inch of your abilities, refined and pushed to the limit.
