10 Video Games That Should Have Ended Differently
5. No Man's Sky - Put SOMETHING At The Centre Of The Galaxy
One of Sean Murray's biggest lies was telling the world there was something at the centre of No Man's Sky's galaxy - where in reality, the game just restarted with not so much as a "Congratulations".
Now, actually delivering on the notion of "What single piece of information would be worth risking life and limb to see?" is hard, but No Man's Sky does challenge you to learn three different alien languages, word for word, along the way.
Let's have an ending where characters Nada and Polo rock up in their weird travelling space station thing, right alongside you, with messages from all the alien races that you can only fully decipher if you know enough words.
Their meaning? That you weren't the only one journeying to find purpose. Every race has their "Pathfinder", and humanity is only the latest in the space-race. The messages confirm that the journey of discovery amongst the stars is the reward. You kept plunging forward because you needed to see what was over the next hilltop, metaphorically encapsulating why No Man's Sky was so tantalising in the first place.
This is the peace that other races have found, and as the game plays a gorgeously subdued composition in the background, you're sent to another galaxy, merely "tasked" with doing it all again, or bathing in a feeling of complete contentment.
Much better than a cold, sterile reset button.
