10 Video Games That Should Have Ended Differently
4. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Don't Bait DLC
Every single part of how Breath of the Wild ramps up to its big finish is sublime. The all-in battle against Ganon where your many rekindled friendships combine to bring him to half health, the mid-air Light Arrow straight to his transformed demon eye - gaming does not get any better.
After that though, if you haven't found all the optional Memories, all you get is a black screen. And if you did, yes the message about Zelda not having to worry about her destiny and powers anymore is heartwarming as hell, but it essentially ends on a hint that there's "more to come".
This was likely down to the DLC plans for the game, where the second DLC pack, Champion's Ballad, was set to include more story - assumedly letting us clean up Hyrule in a post-Ganon world, maybe even with Zelda by our side. Although it's obvious, this is what we should've gotten.
If you put the time into exploring Zelda and Link's relationship through said Memories, sans DLC we should've at least seen the pair journey around Hyrule, talking to the remaining villagers.
Show them revisiting Kakariko Village and talking with Impa. Cut to a voiceless cutscene - with the main theme in the background - of everyone hugging as the camera zooms out to show Rito singing the song of our collective triumph atop a mountainside. It's a far more positive sensation than the "Now go buy the DLC!" feeling otherwise.
