10 Video Games That Time Forgot (But We Haven’t)

4. Donkey Konga - GameCube - 2004

Maximo game
Nintendo

This is one of my all-time favorite games.

Before Guitar Hero we had Donkey Konga, the interactive rhythm game consisting of two plastic bongos wired up to the GameCube. Every social gathering my parents held featured this game - classics like September by Earth, Wind & Fire and Alright by Supergrass were often on the setlist and had me feeling like a rockstar giving the people what they wanted.

Donkey Konga has all the ingredients of a bizarre Japanese arcade game and is a true pioneer of the rhythm game genre. Although the retail success of the game was questionable, I believe Donkey Konga to truly be one of the platform's most enjoyable party games - featuring a stand-out multiplayer mode that can be enjoyed by up to 4 players.

A rhythm game before rhythm games were successful, you won’t regret trying this hilariously absurd drum-hero title.
