10 Video Games That Were Basically One Big Apology

7. Assassin's Creed Origins

Even the most ardent Assassin's Creed fan can pinpoint the low point of the franchise. Assassin's Creed Syndicate encapsulated everything bad about the series.

Not a year had passed following Assassin's Creed Unity's release before the next instalment, Syndicate, came out. There were numerous glitches and bugs; some being hilarious and odd, and others being game breaking and downright frustrating.

Although many of these glitches were eradicated soon after, it mystified gamers, who wondered why a game was being released despite being nowhere near finished. Although Syndicate shone a light on Ubisoft's corner cutting, in reality it had been endemic of Assassin's Creed games for years.

With Assassin's Creed Origins, Ubisoft tore up the rulebook and went back to basics. The Animus, considered a pace destroying plot device in previous titles, was toned down massively, immersing players more successfully in the historical world.

The action was taken away from Europe to the ancient theatre of Egypt. The combat system was completely revamped, meaning the action elements were much more accessible to players, becoming a legitimate alternative to stealth.

This game has set the blueprint for two well received sequels, and showed that Ubisoft is prepared to listen to its fans.
