10 Video Games That Were Secretly Judging You The Whole Time

The Psych Profile mechanic in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories isn't exactly hidden, but it can disguise the consequences of your decisions so well that you rarely get to realize how much it's judging you at all times.

The Psych Profile is a system in which the game psychologically profiles you in order to change certain things about the story and gameplay elements. You take a personality assessment test at the beginning of the game, and based on your answers, Silent Hill makes adjustments to the world and the story.

The changes can be anything from small tweaks to the opening hours of certain shops to more complex issues like how your character will behave under pressure and what other people think of him. On top of the test, the player can also alter certain aspects of the world by making their own choices throughout the story.

You never know when you're being judged and how it's going to affect the rest of the game. You just know it's going to happen, and when it does, you'll only have yourself to blame for it.

Considering the Silent Hill series' themes of psychological torment, it's a pretty fitting mechanic.
