10 Video Games That Were Secretly Judging You The Whole Time
3. Kim's Report - Disco Elysium
The morality system in Disco Elysium is a pretty interesting case because, truth be told, there is no morality system. However, this doesn't mean that the player's actions mean nothing.
In the game, you play as an alcoholic amnesiac cop named Harrier Du Bois. The story revolves around him solving cases and trying to cope with the demons of his past. Because Harry is more of an anti-hero than a regular protagonist, it makes sense that Disco Elysium wouldn't keep track of his moral compass. Instead, it secretly takes notes on how the player navigates Harry through different moral conundrums and uses this information to assess Harry's personality.
At the end of the game, your partner, Kim Kitsuragi, presents a report on how your character behaved and whether or not he is fit to be a member of the force. He goes into detail about a surprising number of your past decisions and how they reflect on your character. Based on your actions, he will assign you a specific personality type and even talk about stuff like your ideological beliefs and potential mental issues.
You haven't truly played Disco Elysium until Kim calls you an ultraliberalist doomsayer with a knack for communism.
