Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance hit all the consoles in 2013, and the game stood apart from the usual fare found in the Metal Gear franchise. Revengeance brought a ton of action by favoring sword fighting over stealth with combos and counterattacks, such as Zandatsu, taking the primary focus of gameplay.
Players loved being back in the Metal Gear universe with a fresh take on the combat mechanics, however the main source of criticism was directed squarely at the length of the story mode.
There's actually a relatively good reason the game is so short. It was rushed through development, so the devs focused on players going through the game multiple times on increasingly harder difficulty settings. By doing this, the game maintains high replay value, but for the players who prefer more of a "one and done" type of experience, they found the title lacking.
An average player can navigate the story in just over seven hours, but some have complained about beating the game in five. Fortunately, a completionist is looking at a far longer experience, as it will take numerous playthroughs to complete everything the game offers in around 33 total hours.
