10 Video Games That Were Too Good To Be True

In the years since Bethesda's acquisition of the rights to the Fallout franchise in 2004, the company has received a somewhat mixed reaction to the titles they have released in the series.

So, when a 24-hour Twitch stream came online in 2018 hinting at a new release, fans of the franchise wondered what a sequel to the hugely commercially successful Fallout 4 might look like. However, when further details were unveiled at E3 2018, fans unsurprisingly were disappointed that the newest entry in one of the most beloved single-player franchises of all time was going to be a perpetually online experience.

To be fair to Bethesda, in concept, an online Fallout game still could have been pretty cool. After all, original Fallout developer Interplay Entertainment had previously been working on an MMO set in the post-apocalyptic world that was ultimately cancelled.

However, upon release Fallout 76 was a flop beyond all expectations. The lack of human NPC's made the experience feel lifeless, and the game came with more bugs than a Cazador's nest.

Improvements have been made in the years since, making the game at least playable, but it's hard to argue that Fallout 76 wasn't a huge disappointment all things considered.
