Sony

The release of the Sony Playstation was without question, one of the key moments in most of our childhood. If it was a film, it would have been directed by John Hughes and Molly Ringwald would have starred as the Playstation.

It was basically the console everyone in school wanted and came with games that, if you had them, made you cooler than Judd Nelson. One of those games, was one of the Playstation's launch titles, Destruction Derby. You picked your car, drove around a track or arena and smashed other cars up. How could this not be the best thing ever?

Well, it wasn't. Because the longevity of Destruction Derby was roughly the length of a track in the game. It was fun to begin with, but the novelty wore off very quickly. Essentially, the game was nothing really more than just an exercise in Sony showing off the graphical power and damage physics that their shiny new grey console could achieve. So in conclusion, do forget about DD. Do, do, do, do.
