10 Video Games That Would Sell MILLIONS With One Simple Tweak
6. Resident Evil 4 - Not Spoiling Console Exclusivity Early
The relationship between Capcom and Nintendo flourished in the days of the NES and SNES, before Capcom switched to the PlayStation and its disc-based media. Which isn't a bad thing, as we got Resident Evil from it (and the Sega Saturn did too, but shush).
So when Nintendo announced a partnership in 2002 with Capcom to produce five exclusive games for the Gamecube, in the hopes of igniting sales for the console, people rejoiced. Amongst the five was the long-awaited sequel to 1999's Resident Evil 3, the surprisingly named Resident Evil 4.
The hype was there, the game looked fantastic and it set to shift shedloads of Gamecubes. There was even a limited edition RE4 console coming, too. It was all looking so good...
...until two months before the launch, when Capcom decided to announce that it'll also be coming to the PS2.
This led a lot of people to think, "Well, I've already got a PS2, I don't need a Gamecube too", despite being the superior version, and subsequently didn't bother.
Eventually, it did sell 1.6 million units on the Gamecube... whereas the PS2 version sold well over two million.
Well done, Capcom.
