10 Video Games That Wasted Their Ludicrous Budgets On Terrible Levels

8. Assassin's Creed III €“ Sequence 12 (Chasing Lee)

Assassin's Creed III is arguably the weakest game in the series, despite the time and money invested into it. A slow burner of the game, it also features a massively anticlimactic final mission in Sequence 12. It's mainly built around a chase through Boston's dockyards as the game's main antagonist Charles Lee tries to escape Connor. The chase is frustrating enough due to a number of obstacles thrown in your way (there's an explosion right at the beginning which will nearly always stop you) but the end result is equally as painful. Having collapsed through a wooden floor, both men end up injured though Charles Lee still manages to escape up the Charles River. Connor proceeds to follow him in one of the slowest and least interesting sections seen in any game. Connor's stagger towards the ferryman to traverse the river is painful to watch and arriving at the Inn in Monmouth where Charles has fled too is no better. It's supposed to be a highly dramatic, emotionally draining set of scenes but it falls completely flat €“ our hero Connor simply looks weak and we've lost a lot of interest by this point. Even the final killing blow lacks any sort of excitement with Lee meekly accepting his death at the hands of a foe he's tortured throughout the game. It's a disappointing end to a disappointing game.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
