10 Video Games That Wasted Their Ludicrous Budgets On Terrible Levels

7. Call of Duty: World At War €“ Heart Of The Reich

world-at-war-screen-2-525x295 Call of Duty tends to get a lot of unfair flack; its single player campaigns are often written off as set-piece heavy, linear experiences. That may be the case in some levels, but others can offer some exciting gameplay moments and the story usually tends to be bearable enough for one playthrough. The series is also commonly mocked for its enemies' overuse of grenades and you won't hear me argue against that €“ not after Heart Of The Reich. Heart Of The Reich is the penultimate level in World At War and features the Soviet Army's assault on the Reichstag near the end of World War II. After destroying some AA Guns and other typical Call of Duty objective stuff, you'll be tasked to climb the stairs of the Reichstag and enter the building itself €“ a near impossible task on Veteran. Leaning out of cover for a mere second will see your face riddled with bullets and you'll constantly be diving from cover to cover to evade the endless amounts of grenades landing at your feet. There's also a never ending stream of Nazi soldiers spawning at the top of the stairs, making your feeble attempts to fight back useless and of course, your AI comrades might as well be shooting blanks. The end of the game is so tantalisingly close but you'll regularly spawn and die again within seconds and make no progress for what seems like hours. It's unbelievably frustrating and summarises everything wrong with Call of Duty campaigns.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
