In concept, Lollipop Chainsaw is just one big, dumb explosion of brightly coloured fun.... and a chainsaw. Inspired by the ridiculously over-the-top nature of titles like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, Grasshopper Manufacture's most well-known release was hopefully made with the best intentions, but it still doesn't stop it from coming across as a teenage boy's wet dream.

It doesn't help that the hack n' slash combat itself can't hold up next to the titans of the genre like the aforementioned two or the mighty God of War, and although the visuals on display are incredibly unique and have inspired hundreds of cosplayers to take to conventions wielding cardboard chainsaws, the core gameplay is definitely not going to stand the test of time.

Featuring protagonist Juliet, she appears in a host of skimpy outfits throughout, and although she's also carrying with her the severed head of her boyfriend - who'll talk to you and occasionally help out - the entire production feels immature and something that embodies the random 'internet culture' seen everywhere else.
