10 Video Games We LOVE (But Nobody Understands)

8. Sonic The Hedgehog Series

Sonic the Hedgehog holds a basic premise. It's a blue hedgehog who's super fast, constantly evading the deadly grips of a intellectual fat man sporting an intrusive moustache.

It's a basic premise sure, but when you start to peel back the layers, it all begins to fall apart. What makes him so fast? I've seen plenty of hedgehogs roaming the streets back from late nights at the pub, and even being in my drunken state I've never been outrun by one.

It only gets weirder the further Sonic delves into its lore. Later plotlines involve time travel, human characters and were-hogs?

You have to think what the team were thinking concocting these ideas, but to Sonic's credit, you can't help but fall in love with the simple, yet addictive gameplay.

Sonic is a staple of 2D platforming and has even made some notable jumps into the 3D realm. He's become something of a gaming mascot and a game that even those not well versed in video games know about.

So while it may feel like our brains imploding trying to decipher the logistics of it all, it's hard not to love the blue fuzzball and his speedy glory.
