inFamous is well known for its morality system. Playing as cyclist courier Cole MacGrath, you gain electrical superpowers after surviving an explosion in Empire City and could choose to either help the city, gaining positive karma, or act selfishly and build up negative karma.

As you proceed, Cole finds himself at odds with mob boss Kessler, leader of The First Sons group that seized control of Empire City in the explosion aftermath. After several incursions, including his murder of your friend Trish, you’ll eventually fight him.

Regardless of how you played Cole during the game, Kessler reveals he’s actually you from an alternative future, one now lost due to his actions. He also informs you that Trish’s murder was to ensure you never married her, as their eventual family stops Cole addressing the incoming threat of the Beast.

Kessler’s intentions may have been for the overall good but his twisted methods brought misery to many, causing his plan to eventually succeed.
