10 Video Games Where The Villain Had Better Abilities

5. Dormin - Shadow Of The Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is a unique example on this list because, for a brief minute or two, players do actually get a brief playable taste of the villain's vastly superior abilities.

Hero Wander is nothing if not a scrappy protagonist, whose success defeating the sixteen colossi is more about his steely determination and resolve than how well he can wield a sword or bow.

And at game's end, the player learns that their quest has actually led to them inadvertently restoring villainous entity Dormin to full power, at which point he fuses with Wander and transforms into a huge, shadowy behemoth.

The player is then given control of Dormin's final form for a brief sequence, where you're free to stomp around, pound your fists, and basically be a terrifying giant for a few too-brief moments, until Lord Emon manages to seal Dormin back within the temple.

Still, after spending the rest of the game being outrageously mismatched against gigantic enemies, it sure was fun to be a glorified kaiju for a couple of minutes, right?
