7. Star Wars: Battlefront 2

One of the major criticisms of EA/DICE's 2015 Star Wars: Battlefront reboot was the lack of a distinct single player campaign.

Its sequel two years later rectified this glaring oversight, putting the player inside imperial Special Forces commander Iden Versio's massive helmet.

A TIE Fighter pilot by trade, Versio begins the campaign as a battle-hardened imperial badass.

Fighting galaxy-wide battles against rebel scum for the glory of the Empire, Versio ultimately leads her Inferno Squadron to the Endor system in time to witness the destruction of the second Death Star, and with it the fall of the Empire.

Learning that Darth Sidious had a contingency plan which would result in the destruction of her homeworld, Versio turns her back on the imperial remnant and pledges herself to the service of her former enemies, the New Republic.

Her fate would lead her face to face with her former allies, however, and in an unexpected encounter with an old colleague thought long dead - Gideon Hask - she is fatally wounded as Hask manages to loose a blast with his dying breath.

A classic tale of redemption, Versio dies saving her daughter and furthering the cause of the New Republic in its battle with the fledgling First Order.
