10 Video Games Where You Should IGNORE The Main Story

10. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Back in 2006, Bethesda released the fourth title in the Elder Scrolls series, and it was massive.

Oblivion is a huge game, in both scale and ambition. There is so much content and so many places and quests to explore that not many players took any notice of the main story to begin with.

There are certainly enough side quests to keep you busy until you've grown tired of Oblivion's slightly clunky interface and incredibly dim-witted AI.

Whether you fancy yourself a thief, an assassin, a mage, a warrior or a gladiator, there's a specific questline for you. There are hundreds of quests to complete that have no bearing on any of the questlines, too, and all of that is completely aside from the game's main story.

Oblivion is a game in which the main story makes up just a small percentage of the content that the game has to offer, and to truly experience the brilliance of the Elder Scrolls IV, you have to wander as far as you possibly can.
