10 Video Games That Will Be Released Annually Until The End Of Time

1. Call Of Duty

It's impossible to discuss games that get released year after year and not mention Call of Duty - it pretty much started the trend. Ever since 2007's Call of Duty 4, Activision have pumped out a new game every November and it's not hard to see why; the series has sold over 100 million copies and that number is ever-growing. Many have criticised Call of Duty's increasingly blockbuster approach to game design but that just might explain it's popularity. Like the big summer blockbusters at the cinema, Call of Duty is full of action, explosions and violence - it's unashamedly loud. That gives the series a guarantee of sorts. A Call of Duty campaign might not be emotive or indepth but it will definitely entertain for several hours - few series are as consistent as Call of Duty. People also have a tendency to undermine the series too, simply because of the name. Black Ops 2 was surprisingly intelligent, full of twists and turns. Advanced Warfare (the latest effort) is driven by Kevin Spacey's starring role, giving the game an extra dose of cinematic delight. With Activision's immense funding, Call of Duty is a series that's willing to take big risks. Notably, Call of Duty handles the yearly release cycle better than anybody else too. There are now three studios working on the series (Infinity Ward, Treyarch and newcomers Sledgehammer), meaning each game has a three year development cycle - no other annually released game can say the same. As a result, it's highly likely that plans are already being drawn up for Sledgehammer's next release in 2017. It seems crazy that a game series is developing ideas for a 2017 release, while also having two other titles to release before then. The enduring popularity of the series' multiplayer mode ensures that Call of Duty will maintain it's best-seller status for some considerable time. If the series continues to maintain a high standard, it's kind of scary to think how long this series could realistically carry on for. Agree? Disagree? Are there any other annually released series that might never end? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
