10 Video Games With "That One Level" Everyone Hates
2. Can't Wait To Be King - The Lion King
Disney made a lot of great games in the 90s. But The Lion King game stands out for having one of the hardest levels ever - and it's only the second one.
Through the level you guide Simba as he jumps along giraffe heads, swings from hippo tails, gets thrown by monkeys and rides a hyperactive ostrich. But it isn't as cute as it sounds.
The game's smooth animation - very impressive for its time - works against you, as it's hard to tell when moving objects begin and end. Ironically, back then, worse graphics often made a game more playable by making objects more distinct.
Then there are the monkeys who toss Simba between each other over a fall until he reaches the other side. Each encounter with them is a puzzle where you need to change the way some of them face and, by extension, the direction they throw you. These puzzles can ONLY be solved through trial and error. But especially error. Lots of error.
When you factor in the many instant fail-states from falling, the excellent rendition of the song of the same name that plays over the level will become the soundtrack of your nightmares.
