10 Video Games With Incredible Stories But Terrible Gameplay

9. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

This one's bound to ruffle some feathers alright.

Though the Uncharted sequels are all renowned for both their compelling stories and slickly cinematic gameplay, the original game is considerably more uneven.

Naughty Dog's franchise starter certainly offers up a thrillingly Indiana Jones-inspired story and instantly endears us to the pairing of Nate and Sully, but the gameplay? Not that great. Not that good, even.

Even upon release in 2007, many criticised the wonky shooting, imprecise platforming, uninteresting puzzles, and worst of all, those horrendous jet-ski sequences.

While some labelled the original Uncharted a generic yet entertaining romp, considering the massive strides the sequels all made, it seems considerably worse in retrospect.

The tedious, relentless gunfights and just generally not-good feel of controlling Nate got the franchise off to a dodgy start - a boring yet good-looking game that was fortuitously tethered to great characters and a riveting story.
